PayPal to play in the “offers” business (finally)

To follow up on a previous post of mine, PayPal has finally re-acted to their lack of presence in the offer an deals categories. It makes full sense for them to enter the field full on, it will help their development on mobile payments and proximity payments as well as give them a specific edge and value proposition for merchants to buy into their story of PayPal for proximity payments.

The interesting part will be if they would go and play alone as the Groupon and LivingSocial of the world have massive sales force just sourcing deals. How do PayPal intent to operate that?

Again this feels very US centric for now. I don’t think PayPal has the power nor willingness to expand this beyond their big markets for now.
